Men In Skirts Movement
The men in skirts movement supported the exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City with the Million Skirted Men. The march gathered at the Guggenheim Museum and marched to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The exhibit was sponsered by Jean Paul Gaultier. Andrew Bolton is the curator of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and also wrote a book about men in skirts called Bravehearts: Men in Skirts.
The Million Skirted Men in New York City was a fabulous event. Unfortunately there were only about one hundred men at the event, but it was a great start and it made the television news.
Men came in Kilts, skirts, pantyhose and even heels. A Scottish style band lead the march from the Guggenheim Museum to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It was a great chance to spend time with other men from around the world who wear skirts and I even won a Men In Time skirt in a raffle at the dinner.
For all of you men who are looking for skirts to become mainstream for men, it is coming. Even a police officer who was escorting us on our march was taking pictures of us. Not only did we receive zero negative responses, but in fact many people came out and watched the march. They were enjoying the music and appeared to enjoy the march.
We also brought the exhibit Bravehearts: Men in Skirts to life and it was great. The visitors to the MET were not just looking at the exhibit, but they were looking at real men in skirts.
The exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art was not the first of its kind. The Victoria and Albert Museum in London held its own Men In Skirts exhibit. Here is the V&A press release.
The web site TransgenderZone.com provided an excellent article about the exhibit at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Here is the article Men In Skirts at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
