Skirts Verses Kilts 03-05-2004 01:15 PM
![]() |
I prefer skirts to Kilts, because I associate Kilts with Irish and Scottish traditions. Having been to Scotland and seen the men in Kilts there, I have a great respect for their heritage and the meaning of their Kilts. One of the most special aspects of the Scottish Kilt is the pattern and colouring. The pattern and combination of colours is called the family tartan. This is a very prominent method of identifying a man's family and Kilts are worn with pride.
One the other hand, skirts are Kilts without the specific design and can come in any variety of colours and patterns. Men have worn skirts throughout history and the Kilt came from that practice.
I prefer skirts to Kilts only because I do not have Irish or Scottish ancestry.
