Handbag Question 05-05-2004 06:35 PM
![]() |
I was thinking about a sarong, I've found some very inexpensive ones I'm probably going to buy, however where does one put his keys or cash or whathavehim? I just can't really visualize a nice dress sporan over a sarong. Is one suposed to carry a bag, or give it to someone else, or am I missing something fundimental in the concept?

Hi Queue
Your question applies to virtually any skirt except kilts ( wear a sporran, UKs have pockets) and Macabi (it has pockets). My answer has been to use a handbag. Mine is a brown leather shoulder bag by Pierre Cardin that I bought in Paris. Yes - its a man's handbag and in France men's handbags are a la mode. Men like to use them to aviod distorting their suits or clean cut pants. I originally bought a PVC black leather look handbag in the UK (Samsonite) and certainly such bags are available in the USA. As expected I've had no reaction to bag carrying in France, but a few comments from my buddies in the UK. The English are naturally conservative or is it they just like to blend with the herd.
I guess anyone who wears a skirt in public will raise an eyebrow so a bag as well is no big deal.
As for sarongs - I love them!
Enjoy
