If my nails get to be more than about 1/8 inch past the end of my fingers, then my wife complains a bit, but that's more because I keep them covered with clear polish (Sally Hansen Natural shade). And much longer than that and they break way too easily, so I try to keep them short. I do get a manicure every 2 weeks, and a pedicure every 4 weeks, and it's fun interacting with the other customers (mostly female) in the salon - I've never had an unpleasant reaction from anyone.
