NHS gives 61 breast reductions...to men [Reply] 12-21-2005 4:53 PM

This is a reply to NHS gives 61 breast reductions...to men.
It is high time that we all grow up!! Men, just like women, are born with two breasts. It is not uncommon for men to have larger breasts than other men any more than it is for women. Many women wear size A cup bras but could go without a bra at all.
Rather than pushing men under the knife to meet a stereotype, we should accept them for who they are. Men should feel free to wear bras rather than having surgery to fix something that is not broken. There is no reason that bras could not be designed for men and in fact it might not be a bad idea for all men to wear bras.
This is called a medical condition called gynaecomastia, but if as many men as one third of the male population has this condition, can it still be considered a medical condition? It sounds more like normal male development. Rather than classifying anything that does not match our unwritten established standards we would be better off recognizing that not all of our believed standards are correct. That is how we grow as a civilization.
Take care,
Troy
