Acceptance of Men in Skirts 12-21-2004 05:26 PM
Tonight My wife, daughter and I went over to some friend's house for dinner. Their daughter was home from college in California (Santa Rosa area).
I wore my black UtiliKilt and during the evening talk got onto the subject of the kilt.
The daughter said she sees lots of young men wearing kilts and skirts, usually the 'mohawk' hair-styled guys.
She said it was nice to see someone different wearing a kilt.
I have a usual spiel about kilts and skirts for men. By now my wife gets that look like, 'OH NO! Now we'll never get him to stop talking!'
I basically inform folks about the various 'Non-Traditional' kilt makers in the U.S., Canada and the rest of the world. I mention CitySkirts and how there are men's skirts available commercially.
I also include the fact that on many kilt maker's websites you can find pictures of soldiers in Iraq wearing their own kilts during their off-time.
It's nice to hear someone else support men's clothing freedom like our friends' daughter did. We've known all of them for about 8 years now.
The daughter also made the comment that women have had the choice to wear pants for a long time and now perhaps it was men's turn to pursue their right to wear what they want!
