I feel that skirting is considered anti-cultural as opposed to anti-social. I have no problems with having social interaction while wearing a skirt. But, I have had people ask me if I am having a sexual identity crisis. I have told everyone who asked me if I am having a sexual identity crisis that this is their issue and not mine. I returned the question to a woman, "Are you having a sexual identity crisis since you are wearing pants?" She said, "Well, no."
I would say that while many Europeans are supportive of MUGs, there is a stigmatism in America to the concept. American ideals are young but Americans are strong willed. It can be difficult to change American concepts, but they can be changed. The show at the MET in New York City is a great effort in that direction. The hope is that this show doesn't end at the MET, but travels the country and beyond.
