The basic differences between men and women are entirely physical. The male and female bodies are of course different and together allow for procreation. The major factor determining whether a person is male or female is the production of one of two hormones in larger quantities. Males produce more testosterone and females produce more estrogen. Both sexes produce both hormones, but the percentages make the difference.

We believe that men and women think differently. In fact, books have been written about the thought processes of the sexes. There is reason to believe that we do not think as differently as previously believed. Societal influences have formed thought processes that do not match how individuals would develop without outside stereo types.

While there could never be an entirely natural development of human beings without societal influences, the less pressure we put on each other to match a mold the more naturally we would all develop. Male and female Gender roles as they exist today do more to hurt our society than to help.

Gender roles are changing whether we like it or not. It is time to accept that change and to embrace a future definition of masculinity.
