Skirted At Work 08-07-2004 10:34 PM

I am a government shift worker based in an office in West Perth, Australia.
When talking to one of my female co-workers I expressed envy that she was able to wear skirts at work and I felt I wasn't. She was understanding, helpful and very encouraging. As a result, in February 2002 I started wearing skirts on weekends with others around and my skirt wearing was quickly accepted. The young lady concerned was actually disappointed that I didn't start wearing one during the week until the following summer but I have had no problems, no opposition and plenty of compliments and encouragement from other workers, including from other businesses in the same building. I now wear skirts to work just about every day, reserving the right to choose to wear trousers if I see fit. I have been with clients and have used public transport to get to and from work. I have even gained respect and been given increased responsibility since making the change.
All of my skirts are intended as alternatives for trousers or shorts, I avoid frills, patterns and colours which are not usually associated with men, and I make no pretence of being female in any shape or form.
It would still be good to see other men wearing skirts but I have the freedom to choose to wear skirts, and I exercise that freedom frequently.
