I just returned from a most wonderful holiday in the eastern part of Florida to the frozen tundra [New England, USA] I call home -- and whilst in Florida, for the most part, I wore my skirts. The temperatures were very comfortable and the skirts just made it all the more enjoyable.
Reactions? Not many; I recall one that might be construed as "negative", a couple of baffled looks, and one positive.
The negative was delivered behind my back whilst I was at a channel-side bar waiting for the new (US) "Space Shuttle" external fuel tank to get towed through and was a ersatz-deragotory "What the Hell is THAT?" (in a decidedly redneck accent). There were a couple of similar glancing looks made at me at the same place but nobody made any trouble.
The baffled ones were the funniest, and the best of those was offered up by an elderly chap who had also gone to see the JPL/UMD "Deep Impact" launch. At first he couldn't figure out what he was looking at upon seeing me, but once a discussion started up on the particulars of this launch, and the mechanics of it, the skirt became an absolute non-issue (as it should be!).
The positive was from my wife, and came as a "bolt from the blue". She's been tolerant for the past several months (bless her heart), but one evening in the kitchen whist I was opening a beer she came in, gave me an "up and down" look and commented, "Damn! You *do* look good in that." She claims I look better in my minis than in the midi I was wearing at the time, but I haven't got the cubes to wear the minis in public.
So, all in all, I'd say it was a good time -- and I was more comfortable than the poor folks in pants. But, to keep it fair, temperatures in the high 70s (Fahrenheit) are pretty chilly to Floridians. My wife and I, however, were wonderfully warm -- we even took a swim in the pool, much to the bemusement of our hosts. (The water was warmer than ocean temperatures around here are in high summer!)
