In the March 17th, 2003 issue of People Magazine there is an article about men getting beauty services that used to be for women only. On Page 84 Montel says that he is a pedicure fan and that he wears black or brown polish on his toes.
In the May 5th, 2003 issue of People Magazine (latest issue) there is an article on page 110 about the shoes that men are wearing.
There is a picture of Val Kilmer wearing open toe Birkenstock like sandals with bright red nail polish on his toenails. The caption says that he is in touch with his feminine side and values his freedom.
I was looking for a new home by attending open houses in my area today and two female real estate agents at two different open houses commented on how nice my red polish looked and that they wished they could get their husbands to try it. I told them about Val Kilmer and they thought that it was really cool. One lady was about 50 and the other was about 35.
At another open house, there was a sign on the door asking that everyone remove their immediately shoes after entering. I walked in and the real estate agent was a woman that appeared to be about 40 to 45 years old. She was very attractive. She looked at my feet when I started removing my open toe sandals and said "pretty toes". Her toes were polished almost the same red color as the OPI Mat-Adore Red that I was wearing. She kept complimenting me on my toes and told me that is it so cool that I have them polished. She told me that she saw Val Kilmer's picture in people magazine and thought that his red polish was so cool. All of her toenails were painted red and she had a nail design and a little diamond on the big toe.
We talked about pedicures and nail polish for a while and she told me the name of the nail salon where she gets her nails done and she suggested that we go there together for a pedicure.
Later today I was in a Savon Pharmacy waiting for a prescription and the woman in line behind me complimented me on my red toenails. She had also seen the Val Kilmer People Magazine Article.
Guys, I have found that women really think that painted toenails are very cool and it is a great way to start a conversation. If your toes are painted you can also start a conversation with women by commenting on their pedicure color or fingernail color. Women love to discuss nail color, nail designs, and nail salons.
If you have ever have wanted to wear nail polish on your toes publicly, now is the time. Pick up a copy of the May 5th issue of People Magazine and get a pedicure with red polish like Val Kilmer.
Jamie :-)
