I am a new convert to kilt wearing. I am 16. I got my first kilt a black tradional Utilikilt for Christmas.
The first time that I wore it outside of the house was to a friend's house for an all night Xbox party and to Taco Bell for some food. Nobody said anything except some friendly joking.
The second time was this past friday night at a local movie theater with some of my other friends, who had never seen me in it before. Over all it wasn't bad. I was really nervous at first and on the way there, but after we got there it was great, a little cold on the lower part of my legs it was like 50 degrees F and windy. I got the "whats under the kilt?" question from the group of friends that I went with (they were all girls), I just kinda looked at them and laughed and they got the idea.
The other people there didn't say anything to me, but I could hear some people talking about it. There was also this big guy getting into his car as we were just getting out of ours that just stared at me, I was just trying not to laugh.
I plan to wear it again soon.
