Long Fingernails in the Office 02-25-2004 08:11 AM

I was sitting at my desk and noticed that one of my fingernails was getting a bit rough. I carry a pair of nail clippers and a nail file at all times and took out the file and began to smooth out the rough spot.
I share a cubicle and my female coworker said to me, “You have the longest nails of any man that I know.”
I told her that my nails were starting to get a little longer than I would like, but they grow so fast that I cannot keep up with them.
She then showed me her nails and said that she could not keep them long because they break and are brittle.
I told her that my nails are naturally strong and only brittle when it is very cold outside.
She never asked me why I would want long nails or said anything negative about my having long nails. All in all, this was a great conversation.
