'I like your skirt' 07-02-2003 11:58 AM

I came back a few days ago from a week in North Wales, which was very enjoyable from a weather and skirting perspective. I stayed in a very skirt-friendly hotel where guests and proprieter treated me wearing a skirt as being absolutely normal. During the warm weather I went out in a selection of sarongs and, as well as getting the usual glances from ladies (which I never do in trousers), I’m positive I got a few envious glances from men who were wearing the more common and dull type of menswear.
The only thing I noticed was that more passers-by seemed to want to say or shout out ‘I like your skirt!’
I have to admit that I can’t always tell if those people are being genuine or sarcastic. It’s not the sort of thing that’s going to worry me if certain narrow-minded people feel the need for sarcasm, but I am curious as to how many are genuine as I would find them most encouraging. I just wondered how easy others find it to judge the sincerity or otherwise of peoples comments.
Cheers
Ian
