Spent all day Sunday in a knee-length denim skirt driving down from the Bakersfield area with my GF. (Who accepts and actually SUPPORTS my skirt-wearing! Yes, I *now* believe they *do* exist!) Stopped at the Pyramid Lake Recreational Area where we walked the dog. Lots of 'classic' guys around loading and unloading their boats and jetski's. Nobody said a word and they were very sociable and pleasant. One female who rode a Harley-style motorcycle chatted with me for a bit about her bike and stuff.
Later on, we went to a community-theater play in San Bernardino, and I was in a sarong. Got more looks from the sarong than I did in the skirt! But again, the people we did interact with were very friendly and the sarong was a non-issue.
Ironically, I was a bit unsettled AFTERWARDS. (Almost like I was feeling 'guilty' of not being 'traditional'... But that's likely the result of my own internal 'programming' issues.)
